There are four variables to effective task supervision: spending, schedule, time and producing a satisfactory result. Qualified project managers also aim at making the organization of business processes better. Look at your project and you will notice that it requires labour, funds and equipment to produce end results. To supervise projects successfully one need to deal with several factors. Some of them are listed below:

- Setting objectives and conducting analysis.

- Handling risk. Any project has a lot of uncertainties that should be accounted for.

- Allocating and managing resources.

- Having a clear idea about the product you wish to see on completion of the project.

- Managing what is going on: giving out jobs, supervising execution.

- Assuaring quality.

- Dealing with change. Change is constant. When you begin the project, you should forsee in what way it will develop with time.

- Talking to those doing the project.

To handle these elements you can use pencil and a notepad or probably a spreadsheet program. But you get some interesting advantages if you decide to use project tracking software:
